"Back to life, back to reality" (yeah, yeah, Soul II Soul's is the classic but this cover makes me smile, a really really big smile) .... we're back from our private mini retreat and we had such a great time that I'm still carrying a cushion of warm fuzzies. Heather went way over the top, borrowing her mom's lovely home, setting up everything we could possibly even think of wanting scrapwise, filling the fridge with all things yummy, a stack of chick flicks, courtesy of sweet Shane and just cause she's Heather and alway goes above and beyond, a beautiful fleur de lis slate, bedecked in happy paper and ribbons awaited each of us at our table.
Amidst laughter and gossip and creative playtime, my cell rang beaucoup with Mampi taking full advantage of a housefull of opinions... from "what does it take to shave down a door?" to what ingredient makes brownies more cakelike?". She was playing Martha, complete with apron over a shirtwaist dress. Her accomplishments for those two days were far more impressive than my measly couple of layouts and progress on a mini book.
Her friend Anne was celebrating a birthday and Mamp just had to create something special.
Two days of work and countless trips to Party City, JoAnn's and several groceries produced a pirate's booty of cupcakes. Not shown are my favorites, the pirates themselves. The treasure chest boxes were filled with golden coins, jewels and regulation eyepatch before a cupcake was nestled in each. All I can say is that's my girl and she did Martha proud once more. Geez, between Cori kicking out a buttload of fabulous layouts, Heather being the hostess with the mostess and Samantha conquering a new skill and doing it with such flair (she's never baked before), I'm totally surrounded by wonderfully creative women... maybe someday some will rub off on me. Just to keep those warm fuzzies rolling along, Jacob, Jerry and I spent today shopping and tried out a new Chinese place. Not a whole lot of success, Jacob didn't find his book, Jerry didn't find his game, I didn't find my rubber stamp and the restaurant was just alright but that's perfectly fine cause the day was spent together and filled with their good natured fussing. Wish I could have had all four of my babies with me but I'll take what I can get, when I can get it. Gotta run clean the kitchen, Jim will be home from TX in about an hour and I don't want him to think that I've done nothing but play while he's been gone .... play is all I have done but what he doesn't know, won't hurt.
